Orange Barrel Production Company, 2008
It’s the end of October and the countless hours of rehearsals are finally beginning to show. Young boys dash across the stage, shouting their lines; girls skip into the light as they enter from stage left. The house lights are dim. People are scattered in the audience quietly studying their parts.
In a little over a month, the cast of Orange Barrel Production Company’s It’s a Wonderful Life will be performing five different show for the Mt. Vernon community. Orange Barrel Production Company is a Knox County-based theatre group that aims to produce family-friendly shows for the people of Mt. Vernon and other surrounding areas.
For this production, Orange Barrel has decided to utilize the Salvation Army Harbor Theatre, located on East Ohio Avenue. The venue may be small, but director Michele Bayko things it makes the company unique. “It provides an intimate theatre setting, which is not always easy to find.”
It’s a Wonderful Life is scheduled to be performed during the last weeks of November and the first week of December, with four regular admission and two dinner theatre shows. “We’re already on a wait list for one of the dinner theatre. And tickets don’t go on sale until the week of Thanksgiving,” Bayko says excitedly.
